He came to WTIC in 1974 as news assignment editor and teamed with Dana Whalen for "The Sunset Special." He did a weekly "Traveling in Connecticut" on the Friday edition of the "Steve Morris Show." Alan covered the 1980 Democratic and Republican conventions and won the 1980 Connecticut Associated Press award for "Outstanding Achievements in Cooperative News Coverage." He later worked for the Hartford AAA Automobile Club as the manager of public and government affairs and continued to do travel features on WTIC until his death.
