Ophelia Saenz Flores, 77, of Las Cruces was called to join her mother, father and brothers at Our Lord's Table and enter into eternal life on Sunday June 21, 2009 at Las Cruces Nursing Center. She was born on March 29, 1932 in Fort Davis, Texas and was very proud of her Texas heritage.

Ophelia was known by many names, Mom to her children, Nina to her nieces, nephews and many godchildren and Nani to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked for many years with the City of Las Cruces Senior Meals Program as a kitchen aide but never considered herself as a "vejita". She will be forever young. She was also very proud of her 99 cent car, which she won in a promotion from a local dealership and drove for many, many years.

Ophelia is survived by her children, Marina Flores Atma and husband Woodrow (Bo) Butler, Larry Flores and wife Kim, and Odin J. Flores, all of Las Cruces; her grandchildren, Angela Tara Atma, Michael Atma and fiancé, Cheryl Ortega, Justin Atma, Donavon Flores, Brittany Flores, Danny Nevarez and wife, Davina; great-grandchildren, Jordan Atma, Avery Austin Atma, Emberlyn Rose Atma, and Veronica Lynn Flores. She is also survived by one brother, Frank V. Saenz and wife, Sylvia, sister-in-laws, Eloisa Saenz (Juan) and Barbara M. Saenz (Willie), many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Survivors also include her dear friends, Alice Vera, Tommie Schroeder, and Jane Gonzales. Ophelia was preceded in death by her father and mother, Juan L. & Josephina Villanueva Saenz and three brothers, Juan V. Saenz, Guillermo (Willie) Saenz, and Benjamin V. Saenz, grandson Michael Donavon Flores, and great-niece, Amy Houser.

A visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday June 28, 2009 at Holy Family Ecumenical Catholic Church at 702 Parker Road in Las Cruces where a rosary prayer service will follow at 7:00 PM with Fr. Jim Lehman officiating. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday June 29, 2009 at the same Church. Burial will be at Masonic Cemetery following the mass. Ophelia disliked the color black and in her honor we ask that all attendees dress colorfully. A celebration of life luncheon for all friends and family members will be held at Holy Family Ecumenical Catholic Church at 12:00 noon following burial services.

Serving as pallbearers will be Bo Butler (Ophelia's earthly angel), Michael Atma, Justin Atma, Donavon Flores, Danny Nevarez and nephew Joe Saenz. Honorary Pallbearers will be grandsons Jordan Atma, Avery Atma, compadre Sam Hernandez, godsons, nephews and various family friends. Arrangements are with La Paz-Graham's Funeral Home.
