Mary V. Sutterman of Bellingham died December 20, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was 86. Born in 1923 in Wellesley, Massachusetts, she moved to Bellingham in 1950 with her husband Jack and has lived there ever since. She was the daughter of Michael and Agnes (Ruane) Leary.
Mary worked at Western Washington University for 18 years before retiring in 1982. After retiring she volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital. She also enjoyed helping take care of her granddaughters when they were little and spending time at her river front property in Concrete, Washington.
Mary is survived by her husband Jack M. Sutterman; her son Stephen P. Sutterman, and granddaughter Debbie L. Sutterman; her son James M. Sutterman, his wife Lisa R. Sutterman, and her granddaughter Jessica M. Sutterman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at noon on Wednesday December 23, 2009 at Sacred Heart Parish with the burial following at Bayview Cemetery. The reception will be after at Mole's funeral home.
Mary's family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph's for being so helpful and supportive through this difficult time. Mary was a beloved sister, Aunt, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed.
