MRS. STROTHOFF PIONEER OF THE CITY, IS DEAD
Mrs. Louise Strothoff, 73, wife of Herman Strothoff, retired carpenter contractor,
passed away early this morning, at the family home, 1222 South Tenth street after
a lingering illness of several months duration. Burial will take place on Wednesday
afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home and at two o'clock from the Evangelical
Lutheran church, Eighth and Marshall streets, with interment at Evergreen.
Had the deceased whose maiden name was Louise Krueger, lived until Saturday she
would have reached her seventy-fourth birthday. Born at Meckleberg, Germany, Feb. 9,
1855, she came to America with her parents when eight years of age and settled at
Manitowoc. She was married to Herman Strothoff December 3, 1874 and the couple
celebrated their golden wedding anniversary four years ago. She was a devout member
of the German Lutheran church and was also a worker in the Ladies Aid society of
the church.
The deceased is survived by her husband, one son William, of this city, and five
daughters, Mrs. Herman Olp, Mrs. Herman Dittmar, Miss Adele Strothoff and Mrs.
Edward Krueger all of this city, and Mrs. Emil Hacker of Milwaukee.
