Born in Hartwell,West Virginia and formerly of Welch.
An LPN at Stevens Clinic Hospital in Welch,West Va for 25 years and later at the Grand Strand Community Hospital in Myrtle Beach,South Carolina.Durham, NC - Pauline "Midge" Simmons, 80, of Durham formerly of Welch, died
Monday, September 8, 1997 at Carver Living Center after a period of declining
health.
Born in Hartwell, she was the daughter of Claude Grant and Meda Beavers Creed.
She attended Big Creek High School and Nursing School at Welch Emergency
hospital. She was an LPN at Stevens Clinic Hospital for 25 years. After moving
to Myrtle Beach, SC, in 1976 she worked at Grand Strand Community Hospital. She
was preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Johnson.
Survivors are: a sister Mrs Hazel Hatfield of Bluefield; daughters, Mrs Alice
Mariotti Davidson of Durham and Mrs Kaye Cardea Greene of Charlotte; sons, Tony
Johnson of Republic, PA and Dr. John Cardea of Richmond, VA; 10 grand children
and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Craven-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell on Wednesday from
noon to 12:30 PM. A grave side service, conducted by Rev. James Barker, will
follow at the Roselawn Cemetery in Princeton at 1:00 PM
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carver Living Center Activities
Department, c/o Michelle Baldwin, P.O. Box 15729, Durham, NC 27704.
