500aDECATUR James Edward Ryan, 85 of Decatur passed on to his heavenly home on December 6, 2012. He was born November 8, 1927 in Poplar Bluff, MO., to Jess and Grace Ryan. He married Dorothy Mansholt, the love of his life, on August 8, 1948. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked at A. E. Staley in Decatur 38 years, from then he delivered flowers for Svendsen's Florist and drove a school bus for the Lutheran School Association. He was an active member at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. His hobbies included gardening and spending time with his family.

Funeral service will be 11:00 am. Monday December 10, 2012 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church (#1 Bachrach Court, Decatur, IL. 62526) with visitation one hour before at the church. Private burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Tanzyus-Logan Funeral Service and Care is in charge of the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, daughters, Sue and husband Dane Henry, Janet and husband Phil Jones, Donna and husband Allen White all of Decatur, grandchildren, Todd and wife Kristen Jones of Monticello, IL., Jill and husband Eric Davidson of Charleston, IL., Trisha and husband Joe Erickson of Decatur, Kristin Lane of Eureka, CA., Melissa Lane of Charleston, IL., Sarah Lane of Sacramento, CA., Grant Henry of Kingston, IL., D. Nathan and wife Katie Lane, of Salt Lake City, UT., and Rachel Henry of Kingston, IL., and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and four sisters.

James was a beloved husband, father, a caring grandfather and great grandfather and he will be deeply missed.
