RAYWICK FARMER TAKEN BY DEATH - LONG ILLNESS OF CANCER FATAL TO DAVID BERNARD RUSSELL. - David Bernard Russell, 49 year old farmer who lived near Raywick, succumbed at his home Tuesday morning at 2:30 o'clock, his death following an illness of cancer for which he had been undergoing treatment for several months. During the past few weeks his condition had grown continuously more serious and members of his family had realized for some time that restoration of his former good health was impossible. Funeral services, at which Rev. F. X. Laemmle officiated, were conducted yesterday morning at 9:00 o'clock at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at Raywick, and burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Russell was a native of this county and had spent most of his life in the vicinity where he died. He was a son of the late George and Anna Mudd Russell, and his birth date was May 6, 1886. Having long been engaged in farming in the Western part of the county, he was widely known there and bore the respect of his many friends and acquaintances. Surviving him are his wife, who prior to her marriage was Miss Blanche Hughes; four daughters, Misses Mary Virginia, Mary Ola, Anna Catherine and Margaret Ann Russell, and four sons, James E., Thomas, Joseph and Melvin Russell, all of whom with the exception of the latter, live at home. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Sam Spalding, and two brothers, James and Kendrick Russell, all of this county.
