STAUNTON — Joyce Rebecca Rusmisel Riley, 70, of C Street Staunton, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at the Shenandoah Hospice House in Fishersville.
She was born May 9, 1941, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late William and Mildred Conner Rusmisel.
She was a graduate of Wilson Memorial High School, retired from Western State Hospital as a licensed practical nurse, attended Jollivue United Methodist Church and sang with the Happy Notes until her illness progressed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Vest.
Survivors include two sons; Jeffrey Riley of Staunton, Franklin Riley of Staunton, two daughters; Gail Hanger of Fishersville, Sandra Heatwole of Gladstone, two brothers; William "Bill" Rusmisel Jr. of Staunton, Robert Rusmisel of Staunton; a sister, Lorraine Balmoos of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Jennifer Nicole Heatwole, Tabitha Dawn Riley and Nathanel Riley; and one great-grandchild, Caleb Heatwole.
She also leaves her special pet "Katie."
Honoring her wishes, a graveside service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at Calvary United Methodist Church with Pastors Janet C. Knott and Tom Reynolds officiating.
There will no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
