Son of John Christian Rusmisel and Anny Shelly. He was born in Augusta County Virginia, and married Catherine Deal in Augusta County, Virginia on 12 Aug 1833.
FATAL ACCIDENT - We learn that Mr. Rusmisell, who resided about three miles South West of Concord, in this county, meet was with a serious accident on last Wednesday evening. The particulars are as follows: He was returning home from a visit to a sister who lives in the neighborhood, and when near home, his horse became frightened at a dog running by suddenly, upset the buggy in which he was riding; fracturing several ribs on the left side, and severely bruising him otherwise. He suffered most intensely from the time of the accident until Sunday morning at six o'clock at which time he expired.
The symptoms were of an unusual character – leaving it doubtful to the nature of the internal injuries. A post mortem examination revealed the cause of death being a laceration or rupture of the spleen, (commonly called the melt).
