Mildred (Mitzi) Rusmisel

Mildred (Mitzi) Rusmisel, 80, passed away Saturday afternoon, January 8, 2011, at the Meadows Nursing Center in Dallas. Born in Lee Park, June 7, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Nickola and Violet (Cherkos) Bucan.
Mitzi was educated in Hanover schools and was a graduate of Hanover High School, class of 1948, the American University in Washington, and a 1978 graduate of Vo-Tech Wilkes-Barre Area School of Nursing.
She did secretarial work at the Pentagon in the 1950s. She was employed by various area nursing homes as an LPN and was last employed as a private duty LPN from the early '80s, until her retirement in early 1990.
Anyone who knew Mitzi enjoyed her clever wit and fun sense of humor. She had a deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mitzi also had a great love for classical music, especially opera, and her dogs. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her.
Mitzi is preceded in death by, in addition to her parents, her husband, William Rusmisel (1st Lieut. USMC); sisters, Zora Brunn, Boothwyn, Pa., and Mileva Bucan, Dunmore; brothers George Bucan, Kingston; and beloved dogs, Bryndl, Suzette, and Mimi.
Surviving are her brothers, Dr. Michael Bucan, M.D., Shavertown, and Nicholas Bucan, Frazer, Pa.; nieces, Susan Voelker, Raleigh, N.C.; Cynthia Hunt, Littlestown, Pa.; Lisa Ramsay, Malvern, Pa.; and Valerie Bucan, Wyoming; nephews, George Bucan, Dallas, and Brendan Bucan, Wilkes-Barre; as well as four great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be private, with interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Dallas.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Desiderio Funeral Home, Mountain Top.
