WEST HARTFORD, Conn, — Frances Rushford McVeigh, a longtime resident of West Hartford, Conn., left this earth Aug. 5, 2001. She lived with her son, Edward, and his family in Fort Plain, N.Y., and with her daughter, Mary and her husband in Naugatuck during the five years preceding her death.
She leaves behind four children and their spouses, Edward and Tricia McVeigh of Fort Plain, Mary and Joseph Boland of Naugatuck, Carol and John Dahlberg of Damascus, Md., and Irene and Robert Lowndes of Tariffville; 14 grandchildren, Tiffany McVeigh, Michael McVeigh, Rebekah McVeigh, Kenneth Boland, Chere Boland Taylor, Stephen Boland, Thomas Boland, John Dahlberg, Kirsten Dahlberg, Kathleen Lowndes Hollar, Michael Lowndes, Kevin Lowndes, Elizabeth Lowndes O'Brien, and Daniel Lown- des, their spouses; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Young Lilley and Madgelen Carlisle; 13 nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Frances was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. McVeigh; her two brothers, Vincent Rushford and George Rushford; and a grandson, Joseph E. Boland III.
Frances was born in North Hyde Park, Vt. She graduated from Lamoille Central Academy in Hyde Park, and Northhampton Business College in Northhampton, Mass. She moved to Hartford to pursue her professional career. Frances worked in many area businesses, the state Historical Society, the Institute of Living, Hamilton Standard, and the Social Security Administration. She retired from the Defense Supply Agency at the age of 75. Frances seized every chance for worldwide travel and thoroughly enjoyed sharing her time and adventures with family and friends.
Burial will follow in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield.
