from the Hendricks County Flyer: Vern Russell (Pete) Runnells, 79, Coatesville, died Jan. 1, 1994 at the Putnam County Hospital. He was born Dec. 2, 1914 to Thomas and Hallie (Mason) Runnells and was married to Margaret Campbell in 1934, who survives him in death. He had been a Canaan Community farmer. Mr. Runnells was also a member of the Coatesville Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Wayne Runnells and Paul Runnells, both of Greencastle and Glen Runnells of Coatesville; daughters, Wanda Glaze of Coatesville, Juanita Kenworthy of Danville, Beverly Sinclair of Plainfield and Mavis Broadstreet of Coatesville; sisters, Floy DeSpain of Prestwick and Ruth Pritchett of Danville; aunt, Merle Smythe of Fillmore; uncle, Jim Mason of Fillmore; 34 grandchildren and 71 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marjorie Oneita Davidson; a son, Ray Runnells; brother, Norman Runnells, one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 5, 1994, at 2 p.m. at Wingler Hays Funeral Home in Coatesville with burial in Coatesville Cemetery.
