Valeria A. Martens, 92, formerly of Davenport died Friday at Valley View Senior Life nursing home in Junction City, KS. Visitation will be at Runge Mortuary on Wednesday, August 12th at 10:30 A.M. until the service at noon. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Valeria was born June 30, 1923 in Cedar County, IA, the daughter of Ottie and Amelia (Wulf) Runge. On June 26, 1946 she was united in marriage to Norman Martens of Durant, IA. She spent her married life in Davenport, spending time with friends and family, playing cards, and ballroom dancing. Her life always revolved around music by playing the piano, organ, and accordion. She also enjoyed summer days surrounded by the beauty of flowers, butterflies, and birds.
Those left to honor her memory include her
two daughters Lorraine Gardner of Junction City, KS, and Nelda and her husband Dennis Epperly of Highlands Ranch, CO; brother and sister-in-law Reynold and Kathy Runge of Durant, IA; two grandsons, Christopher Griffin (wife Chrisila) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Brian Epperly of Grand Junction, CO; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Griffin (11)and Alana Epperly (4). Valeria was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, and sister and brother-in-law Lenora and Ralph Treimer.
Desserts will be welcome.
