Romana Barsenas of Saginaw, Michigan, entered eternal life on Friday, April 23, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 69 years old and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.
Romana was born August 9, 1940 in Carrizo Springs, Texas, to the late Antonio and Herlinda (Castillo) Ruiz. She married Jesus (Jesse) Barsenaz on October 15, 1960. He survives her.
Romana was a secretary at Holy Rosary Catholic Church for 18 years and Pastoral Administrator from 1990 to 1992. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the music director at St. Joseph and Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church. Romana had instilled the love of music in her children and grandchildren.
Romana enjoyed crocheting, square dancing, gardening, and playing her baby grand piano.
Surviving besides her husband, Jesse, are two daughters and one son, Bernadette (Bernie) and Martin Crimmins, Saginaw; Linda and Victor Castro, Saginaw; Jesse (Jay) and Jill Barsenas, Carrollton; nine grandchildren, Matthew and his fiance Renee Cook, Andrew, and Tara Crimmins, Felicia, Lucas (Lukie) and Gabriella Castro, Jennifer and Jay Hall, Kyle Mitchell and Aly Barsenas; one great-granddaughter, Kloey Hall; one brother, Guadalupe and Cindy Ruiz; two sisters, Maria Gonzales and Bessie Sanchez; many nieces, nephews and special family friend, Aaron Wenzel. Romana was preceded in death by her brother and her sister-in-law, Jimmy and Pat Ruiz, one niece and two nephews.
Visitation: Sunday April 25, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty) in Saginaw, and at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral Liturgy: Monday, April 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 902 N. 6th Ave., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. John Sarge and Rev. Fr. Daniel Anholzer, OFM Cap will officiate. Burial: Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
