Catherine L. "Kay" Collamore Gisel, age 89 years, of Archbold, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, in her home.
She was born Sept. 30, 1919, near Burlington, the daughter of Gideon and Sarah (Rupp) Ruger. She married Wally Collamore on March 15, 1941, and he preceded her in death on June 6, 1985. She then married Walter Gisel on Feb. 18, 1989, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2008.
A lifelong resident of the Archbold area, she worked at the Red Cross Drug Store, the former Hess Shoe Store, and the former Archbold Dry Goods before retiring in 1981.
She was a Cherry Coat at the Fulton County Health Center, and volunteer quilter at Sauder Village, and delivered Meals-on- Wheels. She was a member of the Archbold Evangelical Church, and longtime member of the Archbold Reading Club.
She is survived by one son, Jerry (Susan) Collamore of Columbus; one daughter, Linda (Robert) Wallace of Columbus; four stepchildren, Louona (Roger) Roth of Upland, Ind., Donna (Lynn) Becker of Woodburn, Ind., Brenda (Robert) McDonell of Wheaton, Ill., and Lowell (Sheila) Gisel of Midland, Mich.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; a grandson, Robby Wallace; one brother, Mose Ruger; and two sisters, Ann Gearig and Pearl Roth.
Services were held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Archbold Evangelical Church with Pastor Stuart Rex officiating. Interment followed in the Archbold Cemetery.
Short Funeral Home in Archbold was in charge of the arrangements.
