Raymond George Ruegnitz, 95, of Strawberry Point, IA, formerly of Elkport, died Tuesday morning, October 5, 2004 at the Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point, following a long illness.

He was born July 3, 1909 near Elkport to George and Rosana (Enderes) Ruegnitz.

He graduated from Littleport High School.

He was united in marriage to Ruth Meyer on June 17, 1935 at Hope Lutheran Church in Littleport.

Ray lived in and farmed his home farm all of his life until moving to Strawberry Point. He was a life long member of Hope Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He loved to garden and fish.

Survivors include his daughter, Janet (Doug) Vittitoe, Marion; three grandchildren, Lori (Steve) Bozanek, Marion, Tami Vittitoe, Marion and Tony (Julie) Vittitoe, Cedar Rapids; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruth on January 9, 2004, three brothers, Roy, Ransom and Kenneth and a sister, Ruth Jessen.
