Richard was the sixth son of Harvey & Dora (Drury) Rude. He was raised in Maryhill, Washington and graduated from Goldendale High School, Goldendale, Washington, class of 1943.
He enlisted in US Army in November 1943 & served on the front lines in southern France & Germany.
After his discharge from the army, he was employed by Boeing Aircraft Co. for approx. 8 yrs. He later started working at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Vallejo, California, until his death. Richard resided in Vallejo for 22 years.
