Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 8, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Rolfe, with the Rev. David Peterson officiating. Burial was in Clinton- Garfield Cemetery, Rolfe.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; daughter, Karen Herbst; sister, Harriett Trupe; and brother, Francis Trupe.
Eileen Keo Trupe was born on December 25, 1923, near Pocahontas. She was the daughter of Harry and Eleonora (Breiholtz) Trupe. Eileen graduated from Havelock High School in 1942. On July 11, 1943, Eileen married LeRoy Rude at Long View, Texas. The couple farmed near Rolfe their entire married life. LeRoy died on March 19, 1980, and Eileen continued to live on the farm for several years before moving into Rolfe. Eileen managed the Sunny Brook Drive-in for a period of time, and was head cook at the Rolfe Community School for over 20 years.
Eileen was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, her circle, and the V.F.W. and American Legion Auxiliaries. She enjoyed playing cards,and belonged to the Hand and Foot Club. She especially loved to dance. Crocheting, knitting, and tending her flower garden were some of her favorite pastimes.
