Alice L. Ruby, age 87, of Clare, passed away on Oct. 29, 1996, in the MidMichigan Regional Medical Center-Clare.
She was born on June 28, 1909, in Clare, the daughter of Julius and Lena (Schug) Schaeffer. She married Earl L. Ruby in 1930 at Detroit, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 25,1981.
Mrs. Ruby graduated from Clare High School, and she and her husband owned and operated the Schaeffer Dairy. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Clare, and was a former Girl Scout Leader.
Surviving are one son, Robert Ruby of Clare; two daughters, Peg and John Dillon of Clare, and Alyson and David Thompson, also of Clare; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lowell Schaeffer of Iowa; and two sisters, Viola Van Vorst of Traverse City and Dorothy Dillon of Clare. She was predeceased by a brother, Harold Schaeffer.
Funeral services were held on Nov. 1 in the St. John Lutheran Church, with Pastor Paul Fetzer officiating. Burial was in Cherry Grove Cemetery at Clare.
