Joseph's brother, John Martin Rowell, had made the trip here in 1840, secured Lot 25, Con. 13 in London Township in Middlesex County then went back to England and persuaded Joseph and family to move here also. John gave his brother the north half of this farm.
Thomas married Mary Powell (Nov. 16, 1837-Dec. 25, 1919) daughter of Rev. Eleizer Powell and Ann Walters, on Nov. 25, 1858 in Middlesex County, Ontario and after moved to Michigan. [In 1893 she married Charles Sherman and lived in Cass City.] Thomas, a boot and shoe maker, had one child but it apparently died young.
Thomas' half brother, Newton Wesley Rowell, was a noted Canadian jurist, statesman and author and was leader of the Ontario Liberal party from 1911-1917.
