ROSS, Mother Margaret - Age 81, of Flint, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 at her residence. Family hour 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Family Worship Center Church Int'l., 3280 N. Linden Rd., with funeral service commencing at 11 a.m. Pastor Thomasine Wortham, officiating, Pastor Timothy R. Stokes, Host Pastor. Interment Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the church 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Mother Ross will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, and may be viewed from 1-8 p.m. Friday.
Mother Margaret Ross was born the youngest daughter of Edward and Claude Rowell. She was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Wheeling, West Virginia. Mother Ross married Charles Cochran Sr. and later relocated to Flint with her children. She later married William Ross sharing a 38 year union. Margaret retired from Flint Osteopathic Hospital in 1992 with 25 years of faithful service. She had a very strong faith in the Lord and was a faithful church member. Mother Ross was the Church Mother of Glad Tidings Ministries for 18 years, where she supported her son, Prophet Kenneth Cochran. Mother Ross later became a devoted member of Family Worship Center Church International. She was known to her family and others for her "sweet and quiet" demeanor. Mother Ross loved her family and was an awesome cook and baker. She enjoyed her flower garden and watching the birds that visited her yard.
Mother Margaret Ross leaves to cherish her loving memory: husband, William Ross; son, Kenneth (Henrietta) Cochran; 3 daughters, Shirlene (Louis) Robertson, Regina (Samuel) McGaughy and Melissa (Damonde) Griggs, all of Flint; 3 sisters, Thula Fleming of Flint, Clara Clipper and Marine Wilson, both of Akron, OH; 25 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mother Ross was preceded in death by her 4 children, Charles Jr., Melvin, Clarence and Carol Ann; granddaughter, Ravena; parents; 3 sisters; and 2 brothers.
