w/o James Eason, married on November 24, 1805 in Charleston, Charleston District, SC

mother of: J. Edward, James Henry, Mary P., William, Caroline Maria, Benjamin Paul I, Benjamin Paul II, Robert Jackson, George Washington, Agnes M.

It is not known exactly when Christina Dorothea Rowe immigrated to South Carolina from Germany, but it had to be sometime before 1805 when she married. Her home was a boarding house in 1850 but how long is uncertain. Her husband died in 1820 and she probably had to support her family in this way. Women of that day did not work outside of the home as women of the 21st century do today.

Newspaper source unknown but was published in Charleson, SC on November 20, 1820

MRS. EASON

Having returned from Sullivan's Island, and taken the Centre Tenement, Lothrop's Row, three doors above the Auction Range, can accommodate gentlemen with BOARDING and LODGING, on very moderate terms, and with such regard to their comfort and convenience, as will, she trusts, give entire satisfaction.
