Bonnie Ellen Krisle, age 75 of Lemmon, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon.
The Memorial Service for Bonnie will be held at 1:30pm Friday, May 6, 2011 at Spencer Memorial Presbyterian Church in Lemmon with Pastor Florence Hoff, officiating.
LaVon "Bonnie" E. Rowden was born April 1, 1936 at Hugoton, KS to John Wesley and Ellen Hattie (Hoskinson) Rowden. She grew up at Hugoton and graduated from Hugoton High School in 1954. Bonnie attended an airline school in Omaha, NE. but quickly changed plans when meeting the "Love of Her Life"—Kenneth R. Krisle.
Bonnie and Ken were united in marriage on November 23, 1956 at Hugoton, KS. They began their life together on a farm near Hugoton with Bonnie working as a secretary in the ASC office.
In 1958 Bonnie went to Norfolk, Virginia where Ken was stationed and spent the next two years as an army wife. A daughter, Toni was born in 1960. South Dakota became their home in 1963 when they purchased a ranch along the North Grand River southwest of White Butte. A son, Troy was born in 1964.
In the late 70's Bonnie worked at the Lemmon Livestock Café and in the early 90's as a hostess for the Petrified Wood Park.
Bonnie's life revolved around her family, ranch life, and neighborhood friendships. She was a member of Spencer Memorial Presbyterian Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher, served as a Deacon, and volunteered her services wherever needed. Bonnie's participation in the White Butte Homemakers club led to friendships she treasured forever.
While her kids were growing up, she was actively involved in the 4-H program as a leader for the River Wranglers, and in their various school activities. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, card parties, gardening, reading, fishing, and picnics along the river.
The Krisle's continued to live on the ranch and during the last 10 years enjoyed traveling with her son, Troy's construction company.
Bonnie was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 1985 and so began her long battle to fight the depleting disease. Her determination to never give up was admired by everyone that knew her.
Surviving family members include her husband, Kenneth, daughter and son-in-law, Toni and Dave Huber, Lemmon, SD; son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Shelly Krisle, St. Cloud, FL; eight grandchildren, Kenny (wife, Nicole), Ashley, Skyler Huber, Tray, Madison, Tyler, Tanner, and Tate Krisle; and 1 great granddaughter, Natalie Huber, 1 brother and 4 sisters-in-law, Everett and Ruby Rowden, and Geraldine (Gerri) Rowden, all of Hugoton, KS. Martha Rowden, Lakeview, AR and Janice Rowden-Dyke Cedaredge, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, Emery, Lawrence, Forrest, Leland, Larry, Richard, and 2 sisters, Barbara Nicholes, and Shirley Rowden.
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
