Jim "Iggy" Rowden Kennewick, Wash. On May 30, 2004, we lost our father, grandfather, and best friend after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born July 27, 1949 in Pomeroy, WA, to George and Mary Rowden. He graduated from Pomeroy High in 1968. After high school, Jim married and divorced twice, spent some time in California and had various jobs from chef to photographer. Jim went to work for Transtate Asphalt in 1987 where he will forever be known as 'Iggy,' after the wild-haired, loony cab driver from the show Taxi. While at Transtate, Iggy went from operator to truck boss to safety specialist before retiring in 2001 to start his fight. He could operate everything from a shovel to a lowboy, and even raced a scraper or two. Iggy was known for his quick wit, unusual sense of humor, and an unfaltering willingness to help others. His parents, and his beautiful baby girl, Misty Dawn preceded Jim in passing. His siblings, Reta Rae Slaybaugh of Walla Walla, Ronald George Rowden of Clarkston and Laura Lee McConnell of Seattle; his children, Heather Cranor of Springfield, OR, Alicia Leigh Ham of Ann Arbor MI, and Timothy James Rowden of Burbank, and 6 grandchildren survive him. Not to mention his adopted family Julie Crites (honorary daughter) and Dennis Nelson (blood brother). At Jim's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Jim 'Iggy' Rowden memorial fund at any GESA branch Acct. 4872354. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at his favorite watering hole, Sneakers Pub 1318 N. 4th Pasco WA, starting at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 6, 2004. A bachelor who couldn't cook for just one A mechanic who loved to tinker A unique man without enough words to describe him We miss you already. May god bless your sweet soul.
