DEATH OF MRS. THOMAS MARSH
MOTHER OF CARTHAGE BANK CASHIER WAS 88
End Comes at Home of Daughter Near LaRussell -Came to This District 54 Years Ago
Mrs. La Mira Marsh, 88, mother of John Marsh, cashier of the Bank of Carthage, and Mrs. F. B. Moore of Sophia street, died at 8:15 o'clock this morning at the home of another daughter, Mrs. S. M. Hutsell, 15 miles east of Carthage on LaRussell route 1.
Mrs. Marsh and her husband, Thomas Marsh, came to Jasper county about 54 years ago from Kentucky where they were born. They settled on a farm 10 miles northeast of Carthage. In 1899 they went to Colorado to make their home, living there until 1903 when they returned to Jasper county to reside. Mr. Marsh died May 31, 1918 in Jasper. Mrs. Marsh was born near Milford in Bracken county, Kentucky. She was married December 20, 1866 to Thomas Marsh.
Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Marsh, seven of whom survive. The eldest daughter died in infancy.
Those surviving besides the three previously mentioned are Mrs. H. G. Keller of Jasper route 1, W. C. Marsh of Denver, CO., Thomas N. and Otis A. Marsh of Ft. Collins, Colorado. She is survived by 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Forest Ziler, living northeast of Carthage is a nephew.
Mr. and Mrs. Marsh became members of the Center Point Christian Church, northeast of Carthage in 1866. She later transferred her membership to the Jasper Christian Church.
Mrs. Marsh had been in ill health for sometime, suffering from a complication of ailments. She had been bedfast the last six weeks. The three sons living in Colorado were notified several days ago of their mother's critical condition. Word has not been received as to whether they will be here for the funeral services.
Services will be conducted at the Center Point Church with the Rev. W. L. Reese, pastor of the First Christian Church of Carthage, in charge.
Burial will be in Fasken Cemetery. Other arrangements are incomplete. Provided by NJBrewer
