W.C. Rountree, 64, employee of Texas Pipeland, with three other Pipeline Company employees were on their way to Eliasville to do some work, had stopped at the pasture to try to put out a grass fire started by some broken lines. He was the first one out, and had just started stomping the blaze when his head touched the hanging line and he was dead on arrival at the Stephens County Hospital. With him were L.A. Richarson, Pat Mahoney and Jake Dunham. Rountree joined the Breckenridge branch of the company two weeks ago, coming from a job in the Sherman - Denison area. He had been employed by the company since 1916, and would soon have been retired. Company officials were trying to locate his daughter in Fort Worth. W.W. Rogers of Texas Electric said that the line which killed Rountree had not been reporter as broken, although crews were still out all over the area repairing damage done by the storms.
