THOMASVILLE Ethel Shuler Rothrock, 99, a former resident of Thomasville, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Adams Farm Living & Rehabilitation where she had been a resident for the past six and a half years. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 at Fairgrove United Methodist Church with Rev. David Noyes and Mrs. Jane Baity officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairgrove UMC Cemetery. Ethel will remain at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville until taken to the church thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 until 8 PM. Ethel was born June 28, 2012 in Davidson County, NC a daughter of Sandy Alexander and Evia Catherine Williams Shuler. She was a life long resident of Thomasville. She grew up in the Pilot community and graduated from Pilot High School. She was employed in textile for 48 years where she worked as a supervisor. She was a life long member of Fairgrove United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and sang in the chancel choir for many years. She was a member of the Senior Club in Thomasville and served as chaplain of the club during the years she attended. On January 7, 1933 she was married to Paul A. Rothrock who preceded her in death on March 17, 1964. She was also predeceased by sisters, Julia Shuler and Mabel S. Lassiter and brothers, Walter Shuler, Paul Shuler and Foy Shuler. Surviving is her daughter Jeanene Rothrock Dooley of Greensboro; sisters, Mrs. Catherine Williams, Mrs. Hazel Kay; a brother, Clayton Shuler and wife Shelley all of Thomasville.
