Mrs. Leota Laverne Rosson Burwitz Logsdon, age 81, of Crockett passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 in the Winfield Nursing Center. Mrs. Logsdon was born October 23, 1931 in Crockett to Chester Arthur Rosson and Hattie Mae Rawls Rosson. She worked for Loch Cook, Crockett Independent Telephone Company Operator, Dow Chemical, Southwestern Bell Telephone, Collins Radio and Crockett State School where she retired. Mrs. Logsdon was a United States veteran serving in the Women's Marine Corps in San Diego, California and the Hawaiian Islands.
Survivors include daughter, Melody June Burwitz Pinnell and husband Jimmy Pinnell of Crockett; son, Charles "Chuck" Burwitz and wife, Marilyn Moore Burwitz of Buffalo; grandchildren, Christina Evans, Tyler Burwitz and Bryce Burwitz; great-grandson, Colby Thornton; sisters, Vera Rosson Dishongh and Loveta Rosson Wood and husband, John; brother, Willette Rosson and wife, Annette; sister-in-law, Selma Rosson; step-children, William "Bill" Logsdon and wife, Kathy of Fairfield, Carey Logsdon Minter and husband, Danny of Crockett and Jeanne Logsdon Ellison and husband, John of Austin; step-grandchildren, Brandy Minter Crowson, Ryan Logsdon, Nicholaus Logsdon, Jonathan Ellison and Jennifer Ellison; step-great-grandchildren, Alexandria Gilbert, Jaycie Robinson and Jay Thomas Robinson, Jeffrey Logsdon and Trae Lones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arlie L. "Shug" Logsdon, Jr; step-son, Jeff Logsdon, step-grandsons, Jeremy Logsdon and Jeffrey Minter, brothers, Chester Clyde Rosson and Edward Rosson.
Funeral services for Mrs. Laverne Logsdon will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at St. Frances of the Tejas Catholic Church with Father Peter McGrath officiating. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wesley Chapel Cemetery Association.
