Traverse City Record Eagle Sept.24,1999 Celeste Marie Bachant Died September 22, 1999 TRAVERSE CITY - Celeste Marie Bachant, 79, of Traverse City, died Wednesday at the Grand Traverse Pavilions where she had been a resident for the past nine years. Born April 9, 1920, in Iron Mountain, she was the daughter of Caesar and Cecilia (Fiorucci) Rossi. In 1938 Celeste graduated from Kingsford High School and moved to Traverse City. In 1941 she married Robert Bachant, a Traverse City native. They made their home in Cadillac for a few years and started raising their two children. In 1953 they moved back to Traverse City where they lived the rest of their lives. Celeste worked for WTCM, Dr. William Jerome and Drs. Doug Frantz and Curtis Force as a receptionist and secretary. She was active in school and church functions at the Immaculate Conception Church. She was a scout leader and a member of the Daisy Chain. Celeste enjoyed gardening, knitting, sailing, cross country skiing and golfing. She is survived by a son, Dan (Barbara) Bachant of Milan; daughter, Suzie (Larry) Neiderheide of Chase; three grandchildren, Christine (Joe) Quinnan, Bob Bachant and Scott Neiderheide; four stepgrandchildren, Julie, Kristen, Valerie and James Posey; and asister, Jeanette (Earl) Brazeau of Iron Mountain. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, who passed away in 1981 and her sister, Eleanora Shambaugh, who died in July. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Hibbard Funeral and Cremation Service in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. James Hayden officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Grand Traverse Pavilions (Cherry Pavilion) in Celeste's name. Celeste's family also wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Cherry Pavilion for the love and care they gave her over the past nine years.
