Dorothy Louise Ross Ahmann, age 92, died on January 11, 2014 at her home in Bakersfield, California surrounded by her loved ones, She was born March 21, 1921 in Parma, Mo, to Adelia and Edgar Ross. She married Forrest Adams and they had one daughter Christine Elizabeth Adams.
Dorothy and her daughter moved to Bakersfield in approximately 1951. After several years she moved to Nevada and eventually returned to Bakersfield where she lived the remainder of her days.
Dorothy worked at the Pyrenees Cafe as head cook for over 30 years. After she retired she became very involved in the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program from 1990-1999 where she was awarded for over 7,000 hours of volunteer service. She also went back to school to learn computer skills and began painting as a hobby.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held several callings most of her time being dedicated to teaching, genealogy and temple attendance.
Dorothy was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family was her life. Through the years she built many friendships that she treasured over a lifetime. She leaves us all with a great legacy. She is preceded in death by her daughter , Christine Elizabeth Kincheloe, 5 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her sister Catherine and brother Albert, her three granddaughters: Lisa Spaulding (Rex), Elaine Gonzales ( Tom preceded in death), Diane Cooper (Mark); Great Granddaughter Amber Schofield and Whitney Cooper, Great grandsons Paul Robbs, Jared Cooper and Garret Cooper, Nephews Wilford Ross (Sue), Dennis Ross (Ruthann), Niece Onita (Steve) She also leaves Granddaughter Quinn Woolsey (Robert), Grandsons Jack Miner (Brooke) and Steve Miner. Great Grandson Tom Gonzales Jr. (Kelly), Great Granddaughters Tammy White (Phil), Annette Blacklock (Chuck), Monica Meadows (Jimmy), Kymberly Baldwin (Walter), and 11 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Lisa , Elaine, and Diane would also like to give special thanks to: Canyon Hills and all the residents at Florence Gardens for all their love and support to our Grandmother, Optimal Hospice for all their wonderful care and support, Dr. Tetsuo Ishimore for all the years of care and friendship, Dr. Rosemarie Delica for all her support and care, Grandma's church family for all the years of love and support. All Grandma's friends from the 4th St Senior Center through her years of involvement.
Services scheduled for Thursday January 16, 2014. Visitation 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Memorial Service 12:00 PM at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 851 Monica, Bakersfield, California. Interment immediately following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
