Arbelia Harriet Ross was born near Leesburg in Louden County, Viriginia, May 21, 1857, the daughter of James Franklin and Mary Jane Ross.
During her sixteenth year the family came to Kansas and settled in Eastern Geary where they experienced the vicissitudes of pioneer life.

Mr. and Mrs. Clark settled on a homestead in what is now the Welcome community and the family attended church services in the Welcome school house before the church was built.
After many years spent in Geary County, in 1909, Mrs. Clark went to Tempe, Arizona because of poor health, where she spent six years. She returned to Kansas then and has since made her home in Alta Vista where her church membership was at the time of her death at the hospital in Manhattan, June 23, 1950, having attained the age of 93 in May.
She is survived by her aged sister and brother Virginia G. McKinley and James R. Ross, both of Alta Vista, her six children, 17 grand children, 29 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
