Lulu B. Ross Rivers, 86, died at 8:03 PM Wednesday, April 7, 1993, in Home Hospital, Lafayette. Born in Valley Station, KY, May 30, 1906, she grew up in Oxford and Boswell. She lived in West Lebanon and Pittsboro before coming to West Lafayette in 1973. She married Raymond D. Rivers on Aug. 19, 1931; he died May 20, 1967.
Mrs. Rivers was head cook at Allison's Diesel Co. for years. She previously was the housekeeper for 14 years for the owners of the race horse Dan Patch. She was a member of New Brunswick Church of Christ.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara (Mrs. Lee) Billingsley of West Lafayette, with who she made her home, and Marilyn (Mrs. James) Hicks of of Lizton; a son, James R. Rivers of Brownsburg; a sister, Mrs. Vivian Miller of Dayton; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Jim Billingsley, and a granddaughter, Nancy Beam.
