RALPH D. ROSS
Oswego, Illinois. Ralph D. Ross, of Oswego, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 1996 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora. He was born on October 225, 1922 in Chicago to the late Ralph D. and Elizabeth (Robbins) Ross, Sr.
He was a member of The Oswego Presbyterian Church where he served as a Ruling Elder for several teams; Raven Masonic Lodge #303 A.F. & A.M., where he was the past Worshipful Master in 1971; Lorraine Chapter #70, O.E.S., currently serving as the Secretary; Chaplain of the Worthy Patrons Club of Chicago Scottish Rite; the Aurora Commandery; Medinah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S.; and the Aurora Area Shrine Club.
Mr. Ross educational accomplishments included from Aurora College in Aurora, Illinois a B.S., Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois a M.S., and from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Illinois and A.C.E. in Public School Supervision.
Mr. Ross professional career includes a teacher in the West Aurora Junior High School from 1952 to 1960, a Principal in Oswego Schools from 1961 until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Ross was the Assistant County superintendent and Director of the Special Education Program in Kendall County.
In Mr. Ross service to his fellow man, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre in World War II from 1942 to 1948, a former member of the Oswego Community School District Board where he had served as the Secretary of the Board, a former Commissioner of the Oswegoland Park District, a former Trustee for the Village of Oswego (where he served as the chairman of the Building for the Village of Oswego (where he served as the chairman of the Building Committee and a member of the Law Enforcement Committee), former member of Region IV of the Illinois Law Enforcement Commission, he was a member of the Oswego Lions Club, where he was a past President and Secretary.
Survivors include his wife, Genevieve (Heriaud), whom he married on June 22, 1946, recently celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary; two daughters, Cynthia (Dennis) Schoger of Buena Vista, Colorado and Mary Ann (George) Bucari of Norcross, Georgia; a son, Jeffrey A. (Marcea) Ross of Lake Zurich, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeffrey Ross; Deanna and Denise Schoger; Carolyn, Margaret, Lawrence, Elizabeth Bucari; great grandson, Timothy Schoger and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donald and Roger Ross.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 1996 at 10:30 a.m. at the Oswego Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert McQuilkin officiating. Burial will take place at the Oswego Township Cemetery in Oswego.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 1, 1996 from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with an 8 p.m. Masonic Service at the McKeown-Dunn Funeral Home, Ltd. in Oswego.
