Connie Jean Rosenlund Ostler 1927 ~ 2006 LAYTON - Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Connie Jean Rosenlund Ostler, left this world for a better one April 17, 2006. Connie was born November 28, 1927 in Tremonton, Utah, the daughter of Arnold Dehlin Rosenlund and Martha Bernice Crawforth. Shortly after Connie's birth the family moved to the booming mining town of Eureka, Utah where Connie grew up with three brothers and two sisters: Robert, Elbert, Larry, Alice and Joann. Connie graduated from Tintic High School in Eureka where she was actively involved in academics and drama. She also worked at the telephone company in Eureka during the war. She went on to further her education at the University of Utah where she met her husband, Lynn Baker Ostler, from Mountain Green, Utah. They married June 24, 1947 and purchased their first home in Rose Park, eventually moving to the Kaysville/Layton area where they have lived for the past 46 years. Connie was the loving mother of six children: Suzanne Warnock of Taylorsville; Colleen (Jay Reese "Chip") Yates of Farmington; David Lynn Ostler of Ogden; Mark John (Jill) Ostler of Kaysville; Craig Franklin Ostler (deceased) and Paul Arnold Ostler of California. She had 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. As a wife, mother and homemaker, she never gave up her quest for knowledge and truth. She collected rare books. She loved the Bible and had many versions in her vast library. She continued to read and study right up until the last few months of her life. She loved literature and penned a small collection of poetry. She loved oil painting, studied under LeConte Stewart, and painted many beautiful landscapes and still lifes. She was a true artist, using her artist's eye in everything she did. She was also quite a craftswoman - working with ceramics, refinishing and upholstering furniture, and restoring and making porcelain dolls. She was also an exceptionally talented seamstress, sewing clothing for her children and exquisite miniature outfits for her beautiful collection of dolls. She had a green thumb; loved nature and gardening. Her home was full of healthy, well-cared-for plants. She worked part-time for 15 years at the Internal Revenue Service in Ogden, Utah as a tax examiner. She loved the Lord and attended a weekly Precept Bible Studies class for many years. She was a friend to all. Her many "friends" at the thrift stores will miss her cheerful countenance and friendly advice. She was preceded in death by her brother Elbert and her son Craig. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery. YOU TAUGHT US WELL- WE LOVE YOU- YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED! e-mail condolences to the family at [email protected]
