MORGAN, UTAH: Verna Jane Rose Haslam died September 15, 2008.
She was born December 30, 1928 to Stanley Benson and Renske Boekweg Rose. She held a degree in music from Weber College. She worked at Hill Air Force Base, and later worked as a custodian for the LDS church at the Milton building. She was a 4-H leader for over 49 years.
She enjoyed quilting, gardening, animals, cooking, and music, and was an accomplished cornet player. She exhibited goods at county fairs, and was a fair judge in various Utah and Wyoming counties. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She and her husband were workers at the Ogden Temple, and also served in the San Bernardino, CA mission. She provided home-cooked meals for the Senior Citizens of Morgan.
She is survived by her husband, Briar Dee Haslam; her children, Renske (David) Crittenden of South Weber, Randy of Morgan, Regina of Orem, and Rodney (Valarie) and Roland (Julie), all of Morgan; two sisters, Rose Marie Flygare of Ogden, and Dorothy Harris of California; 13 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Mae Davis; two brothers, Edison Rose and August Rose; and her parents.
Services were held at the Milton LDS Chapel. Interment was at Milton Cemetery by Walker Mortuary.
