OBITUARY: Scranton Times Dec. 30, 1948 "Charles Rosar Dies; Retired businessman. Charles G. Rosar, a retired grocer, died last night at his home, 724 Cedar Avenue, at the age of 82 years. He had been ill a short time. Mr. Rosar was born in this city, a son of the late Peter and Caroline Zang Rosar He had been associated with his brother, William in the grocery business prior to retirement a year ago. The deceased had been active for many years in Democratic politics and has held a number of appointive positions with the city and county. He had at various times been chief deputy under the late County Treasurer P. J. Connor, a clerk under the late Register of Wills William Koch and had been an employee at the city Controller's office. Mr. Rosar was a director of the South Side Bank and Trust Company. He was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Church, its Holy Name Society and the Knights of St. George. Surviving are his wife, the former Clara Ross; two brothers, William and Peter J. Former Fire Department chief. He was an uncle of Tax Collector Andrew P. J. Best. The funeral will be held Monday from the family home with a mass of requiem at 9:30 A.M. in St. Mary's Assumption Chapel. Interment, parish cemetery. Friends may call after 2 P.M. tomorrow."
