Geneva Roper Daves
Mrs. Geneva Roper Daves, of Zion Road, Morganton, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008, surrounded by the people she loved.
She was born May 30, 1914, to Sam and Maude Fincanon Roper.
She was the widow of Paul Johnson Daves whom she married on June 29, 1932.
Geneva was a devoted and loving member of the Zion Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as teacher of the Asbury Class for 30 years and most recently the Evans Class. She was a life member of the Drexel Garden Club and a decorated volunteer for the Red Cross. She served her community as a "Gray Lady" for Broughton Hospital, Hospice and the Blood Mobile. She was responsible for many donations to the eye bank as a spokesperson for the Lions Club.
She is survived by a son, Robert S. Daves and his wife, Lynn, of Morehead City; her sister, Alma Maye, of Drexel; special friends, Margaret and Charles McGee and Rita Stephens; and many loving nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Zion Memorial United Methodist Church.
Interment will follow at the Zion Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton. Memorials may be made in Geneva's memory to the Zion Memorial United Methodist Church, 1595 Zion Road, Morganton, NC 28655. Arrangements are in the care of Kirksey Funeral Home, Morganton.
