Funeral services were held at the First Reformed church at Sioux Center on Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Richard E. Vermeer, 72, who passed away at her home early Monday morning, April 30. Rev. Harry Brower officiated at the services which were under the direction of the Vander Ploeg funeral home. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin J. Vermeer sang “At Calvary” and “In the Sweet Bye and Bye”. Pall bearers were Andrew Beernink, Harold Beernink, Wilbur Vermeer, Bernard Vermeer, Irwin Vermeer and Bernard Ver Hoef.
Mrs. Vermeer is survived by five children, Edward R., Andrew, Geneva and Stella, Mrs. Floyd Achterhof, all of Sioux Center and Ellen who at present is teaching in Wurzburg, Germany.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, two brothers, Neal and John Roos, both of Denver, Colo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Bos of Hull and Miss Winnie Roos of Denver.
Her husband preceded her in death as also three brothers and two sisters.
