Betty Jane Aden, 89, formerly of Ayersville, passed away on September 6, 2012, at Vancrest of Holgate.
She was born on August 18, 1923, to Edward and Leatha (Williams) Roos in Reading, Mich. She attended school at Woodword High School, in Toledo, Ohio. On March 28, 1942, she married Eugene H. Aden.
During World War II, Betty worked at Willys Jeep building airplanes. She was a member of American Legion Post 340 Auxiliary, Holgate, Ohio; a life member of VFW Post 8847 Ladies Auxiliary, Holgate; and a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Holgate, where she also served as a ladies' aide.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Linda (Claude) Gibson of Napoleon, Ohio; a son, William (Cathy) Aden of Defiance, Ohio; sister, Mina Willmarth, of Toledo, Ohio; grandchildren, Becky Diehl of Napoleon, Shane Aden of Defiance, Nicole (Allen) Wolff of Lima, Ohio, Stacy (Shawn) Williams of Liberty Center, Ohio, Tracy (Aron) Deblin of Napoleon; great-grandchildren, Tasha Diehl, McKayla, Gavin and Dariane Wolff, Kyle and Ethan Williams, Shane and Matthew Deblin. Betty will be greatly missed by all, including her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene H. Aden; mother, Leatha N. Williams; father, Edward J. Roos; daughter, Rebekkah J. Aden; brother, William Roos; and two granddaughters in infancy, Tonya and Romela Aden.
Visitation will be held today, September 7, 2012, from 2-8 p.m. at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home Inc., Defiance. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Holgate, with Rev. Theodore Rellstab officiating. Burial will take place in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
