Elizabeth was the eldest of 5 children born in County Downs, Ireland in Moneydarthmore. She arrived in the USA as a young girl indentured to a relative and managed to see that her brothers Patrick and John, and her sisters Margaret and Anne were able to come also. She married in 1908 and had one son James Joseph. After the death of her husband Tom, she chose to make her home with her son and his family in Loudonville, until her death less than one month before her son also died.
