Mercy Hospital, Fab. 21, 1973, Mrs. Lucy
N. Rooney Lowe of fhe Madonna Home,
aged 94 years. Funeral Friday morning at
1:30 from the Cummings Funeral Home
and at. 9 In St. Patrick's Church. Burial
in Glenwood Cemetery

Lowe Dies
Mrs. Lucy N. Rooney Lowe,
94, native of Watertown and
a former resident of New
York City, died at 8:25 this
morning in the Madonna
Home of the Mercy Hospital,
where she had been a patient
most of the time since July 6,
1971. Death was attributed to
heart disease and infirmities
of old age.
Mrs. Lowe was admitted to
the Mercy Hospital June 11,
1971, after moving here from
New York, and later to the
Madonna Home. She had
been a patient in the hospital
on other occasions.
Surviving her are a nephew,
Donald J. Rooney, Watertown,
and two nieces, Mrs. M.
Carolyn Rooney Medwick,
Watertown and Mrs. Lucille
E. Rooney Wilson, Massena,
and a sister-in-law Mrs. Lydia
J. (Lillian) Rooney, Ogdens-
She was the widow of
James E. Lowe, who died in
England about 1946.
She had a sister, Miss Kate
Rooney, and four brothers,
Michael J., W. Patrick, J.
Thomas and William Rooney,
but all are now dead.
Mrs. Lowe was born in Watertown
Sept. 26, 1878, a
daughter of Michael J. and
Mary Mooney Rooney. She attended
local schools and later.
moved to New York, where
she was graduated from the
school of nursing of St.
Luke's Hospital. At her death
she, was the oldest graduate
of the school.
She practiced nursing in
New York for years. On May
21, 1920 she was married to
James E. Lowe in New York.
There were no children, of
the marriage.
Mr. Lowe was a traveling
agent for theatrical groups at
one time.
Mrs. Lowe had contributed
liberally to the Salvation Ar-
my and other charities.
The funeral will be Friday
morning, at 8:30 from the
Cummings Funeral Home and
at 9 in St. Patrick's Church.
Burial will be in Glenwood.
Friends may call at the funeral
home Thursday night
