Jay Dean Grubb was born as Doris Jay Dean Rollins on June 20, 1927 in Dawson, OK to Jay William Rollins and Velma Mae (Yingling) Rollins. Jay Dean passed from this life on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the age of 86.
Jay Dean and her late husband, Willis Arthur Grubb, Jr., were married on May 19, 1956 at Boston Ave. United Methodist Church in Tulsa. Mr. Grubb preceded her in death in 2008. Jay Dean retired from Tulsa Public Schools as Administrative Assistant to the principal at McArthur Elementary School.
In early life Jay Dean was very active in music and dance. In 1949 "Jay Dean Rollins thrilled the audience with her piano-boogie solo and was judged the winning individual performance in the 20th Anniversary of the Varsity Review in Oklahoma City, OK". Also in 1949 she was a finalist in the Miss Tulsa beauty pageant. After her marriage to Willis and the births of their two sons, Jay Dean was very active at Christ United Methodist Church in the choir, bell choir and numerous church functions in addition to raising her family. She was a kindhearted person always ready to help by whipping up a meal or a fabulous pie at a minute's notice. She preferred a home cooked meal over a restaurant because "you could visit and have family time"....restaurants were too noisy. Jay Dean enriched the lives of all who knew her and will be greatly missed. (Ninde)
