MILDRED "MILLIE" ROLFES BENIT

Millie passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2014. She was born on December 29, 1914, in New Orleans.

Millie was an active parishioner of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she was secretary for many years. During her 99 years of life, Millie was a member of the Ladies Alter Society and DCCW, as well as serving in many other church ministries. She was the recipient of the Diocesan Medal of Honor in 1993.

A very outgoing person, Millie participated in many organizations in her community. she enjoyed the company of others and was truly a people-person. Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Emmett J. Benit; her parents, Catherine and Frederick Rolfes; two brothers, Fred Rolfes and Harold Rolfes. She is survived by two brothers, Dr. Leonard Rolfes and Louis Rolfes. Millie is survived by her children, Emmett Benit, Jr. and the late Jo-Ann; Gerald (Jerry) Benit and Cheryl; Sylvia Benit Kress and Bill; David Benit and Donna; and Michelle Benit Martin and Terry; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation and a rosary will be Sunday, April 27, 2014, at St. Paul Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be Monday, April 28, 2014, at 10:00 AM at St Paul Catholic Church with Father Mark Franklin and Father Pike Thomas presiding. Interment followed at Gardens of Memory. Her grandsons served as pallbearers. The family requests that donations be made to The American Diabetes Association or to St. Paul Catholic Church for masses in her name.
