Violet Eloise Rogers Carman was born June 29, 1917 in Genesee, Idaho to May Case Rogers and Albert Lee Rogers. She died peacefully May 8, 2011 at Sheffield Manor in Prosser with family at beside. Preceded in death by her husband, Chester on January 15, 1992; two sons Vallee and Ronald and son- in-law, Gary Davison. She is survived by sons, John of Prosser, Neil of Thompson Falls, MT; Tim of Carson City, NV and one daughter, Lynn Davison of Salem, OR. Her only remaining brother, Ortis of Milton-Freewater, OR. Her brother-in-law, Jay Carman of Sunnyside. Eleven grandchildren, Bob, Ernie, Bruce, Ladd, Jeff, Andy, Janelle, Alex, Travis, Anthony and Garilynn as well as multiple great grandchildren. Violet's school years were spent in Lewiston, Idaho; she received her teaching certificate from Lewiston State Normal School and taught at Thama Ferry, Idaho. After raising her family she completed her fifth year certificate at Central Washington State College in Ellensburg and taught school in Mabton for 14 years. Chester and Violet retired in 1980 and spent time traveling and enjoying friends and relatives. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church for a number of years.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. Graveside Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens in Sunnyside, WA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Sheffield Manor - 125 N. Wamba, Prosser, WA 99350.
