Mrs. Sarah Rogers Ball, widow of Dr. Lucius Ball, one of the five brothers who made industrial history in Muncie and the Midwest, died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the family home on Minnetrista Boulevard. Dr. Ball died July 22, 1932.
Mrs. Ball was born in Lockport, N.Y. on November 23, 1857 and was married to Dr. Ball in Bay City, Mich. June 1, 1893. Dr. and Mrs. Ball spent a year in Pultner, N.Y. and came to Muncie in late 1894. She was a graduate of the Nursing School at Buffalo General Hospital and was very active in the early affairs of the Visiting Nurse Association in Muncie. Mrs. Ball was a member of St. John's Universalist Church, a charter member of the Conversation Club, a member of the Delaware-Blackford Medical Society, the Art League, and the Matinee Musicale.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leland Robinson of Bronxville, N.Y.; a grandson, Lucius Robinson, and a granddaughter, Sarah Rogers Robinson.
The funeral will be at the family home at 11 a.m. Friday with Dr. A.W. McDavitt, pastor of the St. John's Universalist Church, and C. Russell Moodey, rector of Grace Episcopal Church, in charge. Entombment will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Ball will be taken from the Meeks Mortuary to the family home Friday morning. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
