Mattie Frances Caddell
La Marque- Mattie Frances Caddell, 89, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, in Texas City, Texas. She was born on November 28, 1920, in Watts, Oklahoma to Isaac Walton Rogers MD and Kathryn Rogers. Mattie served in the Army Nurse Corps in World War II and she was a 1st Lieutenant and served in Southern Philippines, Luzon and New Guineas and received many medals. She worked as a RN for John Sealy for many years and was Treasurer of the Galveston Propeller Club.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Lee Caddell, brothers Isaac Rogers and Gene Rogers; son-in-law Hank Rider and brother-in-law Robert Griffith. She is survived by her daughters, Jan Meucci and husband Guilio of Hitchcock, Texas, and Judy Rider of League City, TX; sons Roger Caddell and wife Cherokee of Conroe, Texas, Robert L. Caddell and wife Mary Jane of Hitchcock; sister, Kathryn Griffith; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Onita and Tony Wayland; granddaughters and great-granddaughters, Jamie Caddell, Julie Gregory, Lindsey New, Taylor Caddell, Madison Ryder, and Victoria Anderson.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. under the care of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, at Santa Fe Family Worship Center with Pastor Tim Gregory officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, Guilio Meucci III, Jason Caddell, Robert Lee Caddell II, Seth Rider, Bud Caddell, Chance Caddell, Clayton Caddell, Matthew Caddell, Greg New, Scott New, and Henry New.
Memorials to be made to Santa Fe Family Worship Center, 13601 FM 1764, Santa Fe, TX 77510 or to a charity of your choice.
