Irene Frances Bower
WALTHAM Irene Frances (Rogers) Bower, of Waltham, died Friday morning, October 16, 2009, at the Newton Wellesley Hospital after a brief illness. She was 94. She was born in New Bedford and raised and educated in South Natick and Wellesley. She has been a Waltham resident for over 70 years. She was devoted to her family, children, grand and great grandchildren and her friends, neighbors and community. She enjoyed most making others happy and was well known for her keeping in contact by cards and personal letters. A member of the Southside Seniors, she had been a communicant of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish and had worked in the cafeteria at the Banks School in Waltham many years ago. Mrs. Bower was the wife of the late Thomas H. Bower, daughter of the late Mike and Mabel Welch, mother in law of the late Joanne (DeProfio) Bower and sister of the late Helen Malone. She is survived by her daughter, Janet and her husband, Bob Williams of Waltham, her sons, Richard and his wife, Joanne Bower of Clinton, Michael and his wife, Kathy Bower of Sudbury and Robert and his wife, Kim Bower of Marlborough and her brother, Richard Fleming of GA. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, her many nieces, nephews and extended family. Services will be held on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m., from the Brasco and Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, Waltham with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Ladys Church at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at the Saint Patricks Cemetery in Natick. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Irenes memory to the charity of the donor's choice.
