James Delmas Rogers passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 26, 2008. He was born in Wadesboro, North Carolina in 1941, but called Hartsville, South Carolina his home, which is where he was raised.
After high school Jim graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in engineering. After serving six years in the Navy, he moved to Virginia where he raised his family while working for the Department of the Navy and earning his MBA from Georgetown University. After 23 years Jim retired from the Department of the Navy and moved to Amelia Island, Florida.
Jim enjoyed his favorite hobby which was sailing. He sailed to the Bahamas several times. He formed the Amelia Island Community Sailing Center.
Jim was an avid genealogist and had linked his family back to the Revolutionary War, confirming him as a Son of the American Revolution.
A memorial service was held Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 4 P.M. at Amelia Baptist Church.
