Joseph A. Roemer, 83-year old father of Prof. William F. Roemer. 422 Angela Boulevard, teacher of philosophy at the University of Notre Dame, and head of a prominent Catholic family, died at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lafayette, Ind. He suffered a paralytic stroke two weeks ago.

Born in Celina, Ohio, Dec 19, 1851, he had spent his entire life in that city and was a prominent clothier, holding fourth-degree rank in the Knights of Columbus. His wife Mrs. Carolyn Roemer died 20 years ago.

Three religious are among the surviving children. Rev. Charles Roemer, pastor of Sts. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Detroit, Mich.; Rev, Walter Roemer, of the University of Detroit, and Sister M. Ignatiana, OSF, principal of Girls High School, Lafayette, Ind. Also surviving are two other daughters, Mrs. Edward Hierbolzer, Celina and Mrs. William Stuber, Cleveland, Ohio, and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 9 o'clock Saturday morning from Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Celina. Burial will be in the family mausoleum.
