June R. Bauman, 84 of Middletown, passed away Tuesday, April 19th at Frey Village, Middletown.
She was born August 5, 1926 in Schuylkill Haven, PA., and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Edna Roeder. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carl F. Bauman, Jr.
She graduated from the Teacher's College of Kutztown University in 1946 with a degree in secondary education and taught at East Berlin High School after her graduation. While studying for a Masters of Education degree at Columbia University in 1949, she met her future husband, Carl. She returned to teaching in 1965 and was a first grade teacher at Highspire Elementary and Steelton Elementary Schools for 21 years. She was very proud of the fact that she had taught hundreds of children in Highspire and Steelton how to read during her tenure as a first grade teacher. She retired in 1986 and enjoyed spending her time with her husband, Carl; travelling and visiting with their grandchildren. She was a long resident of Highspire and moved to Frey Village, Middleton in 1995.
She is survived by three sons; Fred Bauman and his wife Barbara of Las Vegas, NV, David Bauman and his wife, Vivian of Woodstown, NJ, and James Bauman of Carlisle, PA; one daughter, Jane Sparling and her husband, Rusty of Cincinnati, OH; and ten grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 22nd at 1 p.m., at Frey Village Chapel, 1020 N. Union St., Middletown.
Inurnment will be held privately at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
